In the Tiki-Tiki-Tiki-Tiki-Tiki Room!
Sep. 18th, 2005 10:40 pmWhere the birds sing words and the flowers croon...
Yup - went to Disneyland today! And what fun! I haven't been since oh, about the time I took
synaesthete7 there. Which was um, 97?
Thoughts:
1) Boy was I disoriented when I drove in -- the expansive parking lot has been taken up by California Adventure and Downtown Disney, replaced by a huger than huge parking structure. For the first time I can remember, I didn't know where to go!
2) The park has regained its magic for the 50th anniversary - once again there is not so much as a spot of gum on the sidewalk or a fleck of chipped paint. The characters were out in full force, and the whole park has been spruced up. It's nice to see it this clean and well, happy, again.
3) The food -- which has always been expensive, is still expensive, but actually *good* now.
4) How much do I love the fastpass, let me count the ways. And over and above that -- when I first came in I judged the crowd to be very large, one of those days where you can only get on 5 rides or so because of the lines. But whatever they've done in the last few years regarding traffic flow and moving people on and off rides has really paid off. We did 12 attractions plus a show and a parade and didn't have to wait in line more than 20 minutes max.
5) It was a bit odd to see the flag on Main Street at half mast, but I'm glad they paid attention to that detail.
6) You gotta love the talking robotic trash can.
7) New Space Mountain -- woo hoo!

Date: 2005-09-19 10:52 am (UTC)Seriously, I still remember that day at Disneyland with you with enormous fondness. I would go back like a shot. Especially if it's raining a little and there are no lineups for the Indiana Jones ride and Spaaaaaaace Mountain! Woo!

Date: 2005-09-20 01:21 am (UTC)The lines were not bad at all, and now you can reserve a time to go on the big rides so that you don't have to wait more than 10ish minutes to go on the ride. I think our longest wait was, believe it or not, Alice in Wonderland!
I have never been on Space Mountain...

Date: 2005-09-20 01:24 am (UTC)Space Mountain, if you're not a roller coaster person, might be a bit much. That and Indiana Jones are the most thrillseeker rides in the park. Though I also love the Matterhorn and Thunder Mountain.
I really didn't want to go to work today - I'd rather be back at Disneyland!
