I was an X-Files fan once. But after a few seaons I realized that Chris Carter had no real plan, and Mulder and Scully were going to continually wander around clueless and never, ever actually accomplish anything. Sure, the character interactions were fun and a lot of the scripts were engaging. But after a while, the whole 'nothing they do really matters because there is no plot' got on my nerves.

Let's see... Sydney's mother is dead, she hates her father, her clueless friend thinks she's working for a bank but she's really a super spy working for Arvin Sloane.

Where have we seen this before? And why are we seeing this again? The producers wrote themselves into a corner (starting by the way, with 'Phase One') and now that they've soiled the nest beyond all hope, we get a bizarro reset.

The show seems to have lost its heart. "Dark" has become "Bleak".

Do I care enough to play along?

Is there really going to be a payoff here somewhere?

But we'll always have fanfic. Like yahtzee63's glorious "Irenicon". Now that I think about it, all of her fic is wonderous. And every single word of Gondro's fics (does Gondro have an LJ?). And Karenml's "The Perfect Weapon".

The fans always take better care of the characters than those who get paid to do it!

I was really interested to see what you'd have to say about Alias, as I think we both had the same feelings regarding S3. I'm not sure I have the energy to watch S4 this year - whenever it eventually screens in Oz. The pain of S3 has not been forgotten :(

Yes, it is sad. I do live in denial about certain S4 developments, but even so, the fun has been sucked out of it for me. I'm still following events from afar, and maybe when they finish this current storyline I can actually watch again for fun. Sigh.

BTW, would you be interested in beta-reading some J/I fic?

You've been writing :) Now, what is actually involved with beta-reading...besides getting a look at the story before everyone else! ;)
I have trouble being critical, but I can give you a idea of what I thought worked in the story etc.

You can reach me at irinas_apprentice@hotmail.com or sohojo_71@hotmail.com if you want to discuss details in more depth.
