I haven't felt like tinkering with my computers for a long, LONG time. Not sure if it was the Friday-night Disneyland grogginess still wearing off or what, but I was a techie madwoman today. Among my achievements today:
On my desktop:
- Finally connected my cell phone with my computer so I can save contact info and add ringtones and such
- Took a big step towards transferring my email from POCO to T-bird
- Played with lots of Thunderbird extensions
- Made headway on attempt to standardize my many address / contact lists
- Ubunutu LiveCD boots up great, yo
On the laptop:
- finally updated my AVG install
- updated cdburnerxp
- cleaned up and defragged
- successfully completed my VERY FIRST DUAL-BOOT LINUX SYSTEM YAY!
For all the successes, there were failures:
For the Home Theater PC:
- fantasized about drop-kicking it out a high-rise window
Ye Olde Ancient Laptop:
- Tried installing Ubuntu, SUSE and Damn Small Linux. No dice. I'm wondering if there's something funky with the RAM as it's seizing up all the time, including for its native WindowsMe (gag) install. HDD seems to not be affected.
Yeah, that took pretty much all day. I'm just honestly surprised at having the urge to tinker at all -- I haven't wanted to deal with any of this for many months.
