The family reunion went well - though we SHOULD have had a family tree posted so we could all figure out how we were related. All these folks showed up at our door and I whispered to my cousin - "Who are these people?" She didn't know, either. My aunt mocked me for throwing a party and not knowing who I invited LOL. We had five additional unplanned for people show up, and it threw our flow chart into disarray. My uncle saved the day by making a last minute grocery run and retrieving more corn on the cob and soft drinks.
But it was fun, and good to speak to the people who are the last living memory of my great-grandparents and their ancestors. We spent a couple hours pouring over turn of the 20th century photos and my elderly cousins could identify the people in the pictures as well as the locations for the pictures. We were able to share some very old information we had that traced the House of Garber back to the mid-1700s. Pretty cool!
We have been locked in a heat wave yesterday and today, and looks like the rest of the week isn't looking tremendously good, either. I haven't been able to go to the gym as it's not air-conditioned, and I feel weak and flabby. 350 days out of the year, AC is not necessary around here, but the remaning couple of weeks we dream about it. Poor Dudley has been trapped in his cage because I've had to run the ceiling fan all day, and it's too dangerous for him to be out of his cage with the whirling blades of death threatening him.
