Unfortunately, I couldn't sleep last night - wound up tossing and turning endlessly until I got up at 8. Sigh. But since we had big plans today, I resolved to stick it out.
An odd thing that happened was that when I met up with a friend for breakfast, I realized that I was losing my voice. I still don't know why, it comes and goes, and I have an odd sensation at the base of my throat. Some suggest it's the super-high pollen count; others say it's the heating/cooling systems in our hotel rooms. Apparently this has happened to a few people. So I got some lozenges and perservered.
My big plans were to go with some other folks who have the day off and go to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virigina and go horseback riding. We went to the Marriott Ranch and did a 1 1/2 hour trail ride that was tons of fun. It was especially nice to get outside and into nature because between the job (where we NEVER go outdoors during the day) and the hotel (where we go to hibernate in response to stress) ... it's easy to get out of touch with things like... sunlight.
After the trail ride, we went geocaching in Front Royal, a small town on the Appalachian Trail, and then to some caverns nearby. Hit another geocache on the way home, and now I'm back and planning on resting up for tomorrow's jaunt -- Gettysburg.
And I'm quite excited because I've gotten several people hooked on geocaching :) Looks like we'll be hitting some more caches out here.
