Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday; and we celebrate it by hosting a dinner for about 19 friends and relatives. It usually takes us a week's worth of preparations and two solid days of cooking and baking, but boy is it worth it!
This year we ran into a lot of problems, though. I've been holding off a cold for most of this week, and today it hit me like a ton of bricks. Very difficult to do all the hosting stuff when you're all stuffed up. And last night, sadly, our kitty got sick and we had to put her down. I didn't get to sleep until 4 am, and with the added stress I succumbed to the cold. Ugh.
I knew that if I kept working (cooking, setting up the house, etc.) then Newton's Laws would kick in: I'd have momentum on my side and could keep going. But Mom convinced me to take a nap during a lull in the turkey roasting rotation, and as soon as my head hit the bean bag chair, it was all over. And now here I sit, stuffed up and miserable; yet I can't sleep. And tomorrow I've got a huge list of things to do before the guests arrive. Double Ugh.
However, it being Thanksgiving and all, I intent to pull through :) Wish me luck!
